It is always better to find out that you are living in a society that respects all human rights despite race, gender, or your geographical background. For many years, women rights have championed by many activists groups. Those groups have also been championing the civil and human rights of the immigrants.
Amazon Watch will be the best example of the group championing the immigrants’ civil and human rights. This group bases its operations in the Amazon Basin, and their headquarters are found in San Francisco. They have an association with groups dealing with environmental issues and native people to ensure that there is progress when it comes to matters involving rights of the native folks.
This came up due to the rapid advancement of oil and gas industries, and natives felt that they were being left out. Another group will be the Coalition for Humane Immigrants’ rights (CHIRLA). This group was formed in 1986 and it is based in California. It champions the democratic rights of individuals and families who want to exercise in the democratic processes.
They spearhead the move for all the people. Immigrants included being able to enjoy democratic rights. This came about by the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act. The act made it impossible for workers to be hired especially those who did not have papers. This instigated exploitation and abuse of the immigrant workers.
There are the Advocates for Human Rights group. It was formed to protect human rights for all people all over the world. This group has been active for the last 30 years and still are trying to uphold the rights of women, children, and immigrants. Larkin and Lacey have associations with the local groups to the international level. Furthermore, there is the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project. Their main intent is to uphold the immigrant rights both civil and human. They deal with the law of human rights thoroughly, in fact, they are the biggest litigation process group in the USA. This is possible because of its involvement with Judiciary on the human rights issue.
There are also two individuals who have been spearheading the issue of human and civil rights for immigrants in their way. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are co-founders of the notable Frontera Fund, Phoenix New Times, and Village Voice Media.
The Frontera Fund was founded after these two selfless journalists won a settlement case against Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Through this Fund, they have been on the frontline of the fight to uphold rights through funding organizations which fight the same.
One night, these two were arrested and jailed for writing an article that did not sit well with the lawman Arpaio. The grand jury did not well receive the article that further went to subpoena the list of readers of the New Times who had their eyes on the article online concerning Arpaio.
Since winning the case, Lacey and Larkin have continued their fight to champion the First Amendment Rights. The money they won was about $3.75 million, and it has been used for a positive cause. It has funded groups all over Arizona and on the Mexican Birder who are trying to champion the civil, human and immigrant rights.
